Downtown Dallas Neighborhood Guide
Why settle for “The Metroplex” when you can live in the heart of the action – downtown Dallas apartments. Urban living is experiencing a huge resurgence in the Big D for good reason: It allows for an outstanding quality of life, regardless of your particular interests.
The amenities available downtown are as diverse as the real estate offerings. Whether you prefer to rent a high-rise apartment with stunning city views, a loft with plenty of space and versatility, or an apartment in a community packed with amenities, you’ll find it downtown. You’ll also discover numerous reasons to venture forth from your apartment and explore everything this dynamic city has to offer. One of the best things about living here? You can get practically anywhere downtown on foot or via DART light-rail!
Like to Eat? Live Near the Hottest Restaurants
Whether you’re on a budget or prefer to live it up, or whether you prefer quaint and cozy cafes or upbeat, trendy hotspots, rest assured downtown Dallas is ground zero for cuisine of all kinds. Presented with well over 100 options, you’ll never run out of new places to try. You’ll find Café Strada, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Italian street café known for gelato, paninis and frittatas served with a side of Texas-sized hospitality. On the other end of the spectrum you’ll find sushi staple Nobu Dallas (inside the Hotel Crescent Court) and the new Water Grill, an upscale seafood house with an outstanding patio.
Are you a foodie who prefers farm-to-table fare (that you cook yourself)? Big D has you covered, too! On downtown’s southeast corner, you’ll find the Dallas Farmers Market – a 26,000-ft, double food hall and vendor market where locals shop for fresh produce, fresh seafood, flowers and plants, artisan breads and cheeses, etc. A destination in itself, the farmers market is lined with eclectic bars and restaurants. You can shop, eat and people watch seven days a week!
There’s Plenty of Green in Our Concrete Jungle
A crown jewel of downtown is the 5.2-acre Klyde Warren Park. This unique greenspace towers over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway (between Pearl and St. Paul Streets.) Here you can kick around the soccer ball; sip and stroll; enjoy free yoga classes and concerts; play ping pong, putt-putt, chess or checkers (also free); and sample the hippest food truck offerings. This clean, patrolled, always bustling urban hotspot guarantees you’ll never be far from affordable fun when you live downtown.
Another popular urban oasis is Main Street Garden Park (bounded by Main, Commerce, Harwood and St. Paul Streets.) Bring your four-legged friend to the off-leash dog park, relax at the outdoor bistro, or grab a bite from one of the ever-present food vendors.
Dallas Arts District – Arts and Culture Abound
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Morton Meyerson Symphony Center and Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) are across the street from Klyde Warren Park. One of the world’s largest art museums, DMA has more than 24,000 works in its permanent collection and a regular menu of exhibitions. The museum holds special events throughout the year; one of the most popular events is Third Fridays, when the museum stays open until midnight and hosts concerts, readings, films, etc.
Live Music and Cocktails: Always Steps Away
The Dallas metropolitan area is the nation’s seventh largest, and Dallas is the beating heart of this area of 6.8 million residents. It goes without saying that when you live downtown, you will be in the midst of the hottest bars, clubs and live-music venues. Party with thousands of your besties at the American Airlines Center, or get up close and personal with the band at The City Tavern or Eddie Deen’s Ranch. Get your drink on in upscale fashion at Parliament, or hit a dive bar like OE Penguin on Main. Variety, friends, is the spice of life. Downtown Dallas delivers in spades.
